How competitive is the application process for an ultrasound technician, and what could make me stand out when applying How many scans does a typical tech make in a day? #Spring25 ?

Im a sophomore at Western Texas College and I plan to transfer to Weatherford College next semester, my original degree plan was applied science in agriculture because I wanted to go into the animal industry however I've though long and hard about switching my majors and have decided that getting my degree in applied science of diagnostic medical sonography would fit me better. However I still think about and wonder if their are positions in the animal industry for ultrasound techs?

The specific program you mentioned at Weatherford College is competitive. The school offers one of the best programs in the state and according to their website (https://wc.edu/programs/all-programs/diagnostic-medical-sonography/faq.php#:~:text=The%20program's%20schedule%20is:%20*%20**Third%20semester,year.%20The%20top%2020%20students%20are%20accepted.), they normally get 95 applicants a year for 25 spots.

As for the number of scans you do, it really depends on the type of setting (hospital, clinic, etc) and your department. Because you're interested specifically in animals, I would recommend contacting local veterinary offices and asking them!
