Strengthen our foundation and strive for opportunities to intern at sports companies
Thank you comment icon Getting an internship can be a great pathway because it gives students real experience they can put on their resumes. Any suggestions on how to land one or when in their college career a student should start looking for internships? Gurpreet Lally, Admin

Jake’s Answer

I grew up playing sports competitively, but injuries stopped me in college. I then focused on a business degree and later realized I could mix my love for sports with a career. I recommend using your college connections to meet people in the sports industry. It's a great time to be curious and learn from professionals who often want to help newcomers. This will help you discover your interests in the industry and start building a network early. For example, I found my passion and pursued an MBA in Sports Marketing at the University of Oregon. My classmates took various paths, like working with teams, leagues, marketing agencies, or groups focused on sports for social good.

My main advice is to ask questions and say yes to opportunities while studying sports business. You'll learn a lot and prepare for a rewarding career.
