What type of internships can I look into while working towards my degree in Sociology and Anthropology?

I am looking for an internship for my senior year in my undergraduate studies. I'm looking because it seems to me that most students receive jobs faster when they have done an internship at some point throughout their college career. It seems to be a great way to get my foot in the door, build up my resume, and find a job in the long run. #internships #undergraduate #sociology #resume-writing #anthropology #intern #gerontology

As a sociology professor, I am a firm believer in students doing at least one internship. The type of internship depends on your interests. You might talk to some of your professors to get some suggestions, again based on your interests. You might also speak with someone at your Career Center. Some universities also have Community Service/Volunteerism Offices. Check with them as well.

Lisa’s Answer

Hi there. Internships can be either paid or unpaid. They provide you with experience and exposure to the type of employment you will be seeking upon graduation. So, following your interests and doing some research on the current job market should help you to be more targeted in your approach to looking for an internship for the summer months. The time for applying to internships is typically as early was February through April. You may want to consider a community service or volunteer experience in the USA or abroad that matches your interests. Consulting companies that place college students in these types of programs can be outrageously expensive but with careful research and planning you should be able to find something to suit your needs. Feel free to ask a follow-up question as your question is very general.
