Going into the medical field, what is the most difficult concept to grasp when learning about a patient? History? Condition? Diagnosis?
I was just wondering because I am always trying to see whats the hardest topic to discuss or to try to learn about the body or what could possible be going on with a patient and what their state or condition they could be in #doctor #nursing #pre-med #registered-nurses #doctorate-degree #pediatric-nursing

Hi, Destiny !
As a general college and career advisor, I think I may be able to shed some light on what you've asked. I have many decades of observation and with colleagues in the healthcare and medical fields.
Medical and Healthcare workers do not have issues or struggles with assessing or recognizing a patients' history, condition or diagnosis as that is what the basis of the career is all about. Some people just have a natural ability for it and some learn it through their medical or healthcare academic path. I have not once encountered a medical or health care professional that was unsure, confused or insecure with what they were doing. It is a field of work that demands great knowledge and strong confidence.
It all may seem mysterious to you because you just may not have started learning for your chosen career yet. It's best not to assume that it's difficult. The important thing is to begin learning about the work and until you are in a healthcare Program or Medical School, you will then learn the career. It's not useful to think about any negatives, it's more useful to start learning about illnesses and what your chosen field does. You are not specific as to which healthcare or medical field you are thinking about.
Just to let you know, as an actress portraying patients for students during their exams, I have worked with and evaluated first and second year Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine Students and Physician Assistant students. They are even confident, self-assured and professional at that stage. That is because they are learning information as well as getting hands on experience. Sometimes, careers cannot be actualized by guessing or just thinking about it and conjuring up worst case scenarios. It's best to approach it with an open mind, knowing there's a lot to learn and do in medical and healthcare and it varies in the different fields, so you'd have to know if you'd want to be a doctor, nurse, Physician Assistant, Radiology Technician, Sonographer, etc. and then explore the specific career.
If you have a true calling to work with injured or ill people, you will find yourself enthusiastically exploring and developing a positive image of how important you will be in contributing to people's well-being. Make a list of your positive qualities and also a list of things you need to work on more and see how they play into healthcare or medical careers. Learn the reality of the career and not just creating barriers with thoughts. You can do anything you put your mind to. First, explore if this is the right field for you as you are already thinking of difficulties about it.
You can watch You Tube presentational videos of some people who are in the career you choose. Learn what the specific academic path is for your chosen future work. Definitely ask more questions here at Career Village about specific work, too. Once you do direct exploring for a specific field of work you will gain a good understanding and know if that work is for you or not.
Best wishes in all you do !
