1. Did you have an adult who is in that career to give you further info? I did not have any advice on marketing while I was in high school, but I had very amazing mentors that provided advice about learning to be a never ending quest, and inspired a strong work ethic. Those have served me well. Once I set my career path in marketing, I requested mentorship from people within and outside my organization. I look at leaders I wanted to emulate and the requests were always well received.
2. Did you take advanced placement classes in the field of your choice? I took STEM AP classes but in college I switched from engineering to the liberal arts. I am thankful that I took the courses regardless of future career choice, as they set me well for academic rigor, curiosity and planning. Those skills have served me well and to this day, I am always learning new skills.

1. Did you have an adult who is in that career to give you further info? No, I didn't have any direct guidance from an adult in the field. However, I took charge of my own career path by seeking opportunities like internships and job openings that genuinely intrigued me. This proactive approach has led me to where I am today, and I believe self-discovery is a crucial part of finding the right career.

2. Did you take advanced placement classes in the field of your choice? No, I actually didn't take any courses or classes related to the job I pursued after college. Still, I managed to excel in my career by adapting and learning on the job, proving that it's never too late to learn new skills or explore new fields. It just goes to show that your passion, determination, and willingness to learn can make a significant difference in your career success.

Dino’s Answer

Hi Aaron,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us! It's great to have the opportunity to share some personal experiences that I hope will inspire and support you.

1. I recall a memorable assignment from my English class that had a significant impact on my life. Our teacher had us explore potential career choices in college, and it was during that assignment that I came across an incredibly helpful resource in the library - an occupational manual that provided comprehensive information about various careers. That book opened up a whole new world for me, and my path became clearer as I learned about different opportunities. Although our assignment didn't require us to speak with adults or experts in the field, I imagine that doing so could have been even more enlightening.

The experience taught me the importance of self-reflection and self-awareness, as I considered my strengths, weaknesses, and individual traits to find the perfect fit for my college program. That assignment truly felt like a "Pandoras box," opening up endless possibilities and setting me on the right course.

2. Pursuing a degree in Psychology offers wonderful opportunities for growth and further education. I believe that combining real-world experience with higher education creates a more meaningful learning journey. After completing my undergraduate studies, I plan to work for a while and then continue on to graduate school, striving towards fulfilling my dreams.

To sum up, remember to always self-reflect and be open to new possibilities. Be proactive in seeking guidance and advice from those around you. Embrace every opportunity to learn and grow, and trust the process. You've got this, Aaron! Cheers to an exciting and fulfilling path ahead.

Dino recommends the following next steps:

Visit your school counselor and seek some assistance about career exploration.
Always look at your own passion, what are the things that you enjoy doing that can be converted into a career in the future.
Do some research about possible careers fitted to your skills, aptitude, abilities and talents.
