In such current scenarios what would be the right way to go about landing a full time opportunity in software industry given that I am no previous full time work experience?

It was a win-win situation for both parties involved. So, I'd definitely recommend you to look for something similar to complement your other experiences.

Find a personal project you're interested in making! It doesn't have to be super complex or crazy, just something that you think you're interested in enough to spend some time on. Try out technologies that you're interested in and experiment with how you approach things. You'll be amazed at how creative you can be with only your own constraints.
