Hi Jasmin, my best advice is to do your research. Review some of the most commonly asked interview questions and think of what you might say to answer them, but don't try to memorize an answer as that can make you come off as ingenuine if it sounds like you're reciting an answer. You should probably have an answer in mind for why you want to work there, what you're strengths/weaknesses are (and try to make these relevant to the job you're applying to), and a time you faced a problem and how you solved it/what you learned from it.

You should also research the company that you're applying to and understand their operations. Even if you're just applying for a retail job - what kinds of merchandise do they sell, what kind of atmosphere do their stores have, what is their typical customer profile and what are typical customer needs a sales associate would need to meet? If this is a major company that can be Googled, scour their company's website for things like core values and what the company does as a whole.

If your interview is in person, you will want to dress for success. If they did not specify, a safe bet is business casual. This might depend on the company you're applying for, but a safe option is a pair of slacks/nice pants, a blouse or nice top, and modest shoes (flats or low heels). If you are applying for a clothing store, you might want to dress more like their sales associates/the clothes that they sell (when I did a group interview at Lululemon, everyone was wearing Lululemon gear or other athletic wear, but I wouldn't wear that for an interview at Nordstrom). If the job you're applying for is at a more laid-back company, nice jeans and a nice top may be fine. This will probably be part of your research. And make sure that your hair is brushed, breath smells good, and any perfume you wear isn't overbearing. You won't want anything to be too distracting to your interviewer.

Lastly, COME WITH QUESTIONS FOR YOUR INTERVIEWER. There is a 99.999% chance they will ask you if you have any questions for them at the end of the interview and it often comes off as lazy if you don't ask any. You might ask them what a typical day would look like in that role, if there are any responsibilities not listed in the job description on the application that you should know about, what the training process is like, or what the next steps are in the interview process. This shows you took time to think about the interview and took it seriously.

Many great things have been said already. I'll add that interviewing is just as much about the company finding the right candidate for the role, as it is about you finding the right fit for your career. My top 3 tips are:
1. Practice confidence. You've made in the door- don't take yourself and your abilities for granted.
2. Come prepared. Practice your interviewing skills, research the company, understand the role.
3. Share your authentic self. It can be easy to try and put on a front of who you think the interviewer wants to see. Instead, bring your best, true, and professional self. You'll find the most genuine connection this way.
