Stacy’s Answer

As a single mother of three older children and as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), my personal values have been greatly shaped by my life experiences because things have not always been easy. My values of compassion, empathy, and community service have been influenced by being a CNA and my role as a mother. (Values, 2018) My values align with Putnam’s Model of Engaged Citizenship, which speaks of the importance of participating in society. I have seen firsthand the struggles faced by the elderly, many of them are forgotten and disregarded by society, specifically during the holiday season. This is why I want to make a positive impact on their lives. Also, as a mother, I have instilled the values of kindness and generosity in my children, and I want to live by those values and will do so by creating this project to raise money for the elderly at the nursing home to get Christmas gifts as well as for them to give out gifts to the community.
This project lines up with my values and the Model of Engaged Citizenship, as it allows me to actively participate in my community and make a positive change in others’ lives. By asking my children for assistance, I am also teaching them the importance of giving back and being engaged citizens. Through my education, I have realized the importance of compassion and understanding the needs and views of others. My degree will have supplied me with the skills and ability to successfully plan and accomplish good things such as this project, from fundraising to organizing the gift-giving event. In his book “The Good Society”, Amitai Etzioni talks about the importance of individuals taking responsibility for the well-being of their communities and participating in creating a good society. This project reflects my commitment to this idea because it shows importance in individuals being responsible and doing this such as this small act of kindness to help their communities.
In conclusion, my personal values, the Model of Engaged Citizenship, my degree have
been part in shaping my vision for this project. Through this project, I hope to make a
positive impact on the lives of the elderly and even help others become engaged citizens
in their communities. As Etzioni states, “The good society is one that is not only
prosperous, but also just, compassionate, and safe.” I believe that this project aligns with
these values and help me contribute to a good society.

Dr’s Answer

Hey Tanjim! 😎 You’re pumped about Artificial Intelligence, huh? Well, buckle up because you’re in for a super exciting (and sometimes a little mind-bending) journey! 🚀🤖 Let’s break down the best routes to get you to your AI dreams.

Option 1: Computer Science (Still a Big Deal)

I hear ya—everyone seems to be doing Computer Science these days, but guess what? It’s still the backbone of AI. It’s like the secret ingredient in the recipe for success. 🥇 In CS, you’ll learn programming, algorithms, data structures, and all that good stuff that lets you build AI models and make them smarter than ever! So, yeah, it’s popular for a reason. But don't worry—you’ll stand out by adding your unique flavor to the mix. 🌶

Option 2: Data Science (The Cool, Growing Cousin)

Data Science is like CS’s cool cousin who’s great at understanding patterns and making sense of massive amounts of data (think of it as AI’s best friend). 📊 If you’re into statistics, probability, and using that knowledge to train AI, this might be the path for you. It’s perfect if you want to work with big data, find patterns, and help train AI to learn from it. Data Science = Future! 💥

Option 3: AI-Specific Majors (Yes, They Exist!)

Some schools offer majors that are directly focused on AI, machine learning, or even robotics. 🦾 These programs take the best of CS and Data Science and make them laser-focused on AI. It’s like a shortcut to becoming an AI mastermind! So if you want to skip some of the tangents and go straight to the fun stuff, look for AI-focused degrees. 🔥

Option 4: Mathematics and Statistics

You might be thinking, “Wait, what? Math?” But hear me out! If you want to get deep into AI and its underlying principles, having a solid understanding of linear algebra, calculus, and probability theory will make you a powerhouse. 🧠 Plus, AI loves math—it’s like the brainy friend that helps your AI algorithms “think” in the smartest way possible. 🧮

Bonus Tip: Don’t Forget About Creativity

AI is not just about coding and math—it’s about creativity too! Whether you’re designing AI for music, games, or healthcare, thinking outside the box is key. So embrace your inner tech artist and innovator. 🎨🤖

TL;DR: Best Major?

Computer Science (if you like coding + creating AI)

Data Science (if you’re all about the data and analytics)

AI-specific degrees (for the fast track)

Math/Statistics (for the deep-dive into AI theory)

Whatever you choose, make sure you keep that enthusiasm of yours blazing, Tanjim! The AI world needs more curious minds like yours, and you’re going to crush it! 😎🚀
