Building a successful business career involves a mix of learning, action, and personal growth. To begin:

1. Invest in Learning: Understanding key business principles is crucial—study topics like marketing, leadership, and financial management. Writing classes, in particular, are invaluable for entrepreneurs. They’ll strengthen your ability to communicate ideas clearly, craft compelling proposals, and connect with your audience, whether through emails, blogs, or business plans.

2. Start Small, Think Big: Launch a small project or side hustle to gain hands-on experience. It doesn’t have to be perfect—every step teaches valuable lessons that prepare you for the bigger picture.

3. Make It Enjoyable: Build your career around your passions. Ask yourself, "What challenges do I love solving?" Pursuing a business that aligns with your interests makes the journey exciting and fulfilling.

4. Surround Yourself with Positivity: Connect with mentors, peers, or communities that inspire and challenge you. A supportive network can fuel your ambition and keep you motivated.

What to Start Doing:
1. Take Writing or Communication Classes: Great communication opens doors and builds relationships, two essentials for any entrepreneur.

2. Take Action Daily: Break your goals into small, actionable steps and tackle them consistently.

3. Learn from the Best: Study successful entrepreneurs and seek mentors.

What to Stop Doing:
1. Stop Waiting for Perfect Conditions: There’s no perfect moment to start—begin now with what you have.

2. Stop Fearing Failure: Mistakes are steppingstones to success. Embrace them as part of your growth.

3. Stop Comparing Yourself to Others: Focus on your unique path and progress.

Be patient and persistent and remember that entrepreneurship is as much about the journey as it is about the destination. By building skills like writing, taking action, and aligning with your passions, you’ll set yourself up for success in both your career and life.

Ria’s Answer

It’s awesome that you’re already thinking about this. Most people don’t start asking these questions until they’re halfway through college, so you’re already ahead of the pack.

If I were sitting down with you to map this out, here is how I’d look at building a career that doesn’t just make money, but actually feels like something you’re stoked to wake up for.

1. The "Start" List (Action Items)
Success in business is like a muscle—you have to train it.

- Become a "Problem Spotter": Every great business starts by solving a frustration. Start carrying a notebook (or a note on your phone). Every time you or a friend says, "I hate it when..." or "Why is this so hard?", write it down. That’s a potential business.

- Learn the "High-Income Skills": You don't need a degree to learn how to write copy that sells, how to edit a viral video, or how to run a basic ad. These are the "tools" of modern business.

- Find a Mentor: You don't need a CEO. Look for someone just 2 or 3 years older than you who is doing well. Ask them how they did it. People love sharing what they've learned.

2. The "Stop" List (Mindset Shifts)
To get to the next level, you have to drop the stuff that’s holding you back.

- Stop waiting for "Permission": You don't need a license or a diploma to start an LLC or sell a service. If you have an idea, test it today.

- Stop fearing the "Cringe": Putting yourself out there feels awkward at first. Your friends might tease you. Do it anyway. The most successful people are the ones who stayed "cringe" long enough to become "successful."

- Stop thinking it’s all about the math: Business is actually about psychology. It’s about understanding what people want and why they want it.

3. How to Make it Enjoyable
If you hate the process, you’ll quit before the big payoff. Here’s how to keep it fun:

- The "80/20" Interest Rule: Try to make sure 80% of your business involves something you already like (music, sports, tech, fashion) and 20% is the boring "business-y" stuff (spreadsheets, taxes).

- Don't do it alone: Find a "Co-Founder." Business is way more fun when you have someone to celebrate the wins with and vent to when things go wrong.

- Celebrate the "Small Wins": Did you get your first follower? Your first $5? Your first positive comment? Celebrate those! If you only wait for the "million dollar moment" to be happy, you’ll be miserable for years.

Bottom line, being an entrepreneur isn't a job title; it's a way of looking at the world. You’re looking for ways to add value. If you keep focused on helping people and stay curious, the "career" part will take care of itself.

Romarro,
Avoid procrastination and establish a disciplined routine, it will serve you well in your adult life. Typical work hours are 8:30am to 5pm. Go to bed at a set time, get up at a regular time, make your bed, shower, eat breakfast, leave your house in plenty of time to arrive ten minutes early for your job, if you're not ten minutes early you're late! Even if you work from home you must have an established routine to avoid the temptation of procrastinating. When you are on your own if you succeed or fail it's on you, not your parents or any one else... just you. Establish goals or a series of steps to achieve whatever you decide you want to pursue in your work life, in other words make a plan and work the plan you make. It all begins with discipline and focus.

Good luck!

Rehannah’s Answer

Building a business career can lead to amazing opportunities. Many successful leaders, like Mark Cuban, Elon Musk, and Warren Buffett, started with entrepreneurship and achieved great success. Don't let fear hold you back from chasing your dreams. It's important to make a plan and think it through carefully.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

1) Entrepreneurship can be challenging and takes time.
It's important to connect with others, attend conferences, and do thorough market research. Online businesses can be more accessible using platforms like Amazon, Walmart Marketplace, Instagram, and YouTube.

2) Stay Organized
To stay motivated and on schedule, create a simple project plan. Outline your mission, the steps you need to take, and set timelines to keep you on track. It's satisfying to check off tasks as you complete them.

3) Digital Marketing & AI
Use social media to market and promote your products. You can also leverage tools like Chat GPT or AI to generate creative marketing ideas. AI can assist with projections and market research to help launch your product successfully.

4) Flexible Hours
Running a business can mean late nights and missed family events. I managed an after-school tutoring business while working full-time as a programmer. It was tough but incredibly rewarding. Be ready to balance your time for a few years.

1. Build a Strong Foundation
✅ Learn About Business & Entrepreneurship

Dive into books, podcasts, and online courses about business, marketing, and leadership.

Understand finances—budgeting, investing, and money management are essential.

✅ Develop a Growth Mindset

See failures as lessons, not setbacks.

Stay curious and open to new ideas.

✅ Improve Communication & Networking Skills

Join business clubs, go to networking events, and meet entrepreneurs.

Learn to sell your ideas well—sales skills are crucial for any entrepreneur.

✅ Start Small, Start Now

Don’t wait for the "perfect" idea—start a small side hustle like reselling, freelancing, or creating content.

Learn by doing. Every small project teaches important business lessons.

2. Make It Enjoyable

🔹 Find a Business That Aligns with Your Passion – Build your business around things you love. Ask yourself: What problems do I enjoy solving?
🔹 Surround Yourself with Like-Minded People – Connect with other ambitious and positive folks.

3. What to Start Doing
✅ Taking Action – Ideas alone don’t build businesses; actions do. Start NOW.
✅ Learning from Successful People – Find mentors or role models in your field.
✅ Managing Your Time Wisely – Focus on activities that bring you closer to your business goals.

4. What to Stop Doing
❌ Stop Waiting for the Perfect Moment – Begin with what you have.
❌ Stop Fearing Failure – Every failure is a step towards success.
❌ Stop Seeking Approval from Everyone – Not everyone will get your vision, and that’s okay.

Final Advice
Be patient, stay consistent, and keep learning. Success takes time, but if you stay committed, you’ll build a business career that not only makes money but also brings you joy and fulfillment. 🚀

What kind of business are you interested in starting? Happy selling!

S’s Answer

Building a career in business, especially if you aim to become an entrepreneur, is more about doing the right things in the right order than just doing more. Here are some key points to consider:

1. Start with what you truly love, not just what seems profitable. If you're naturally curious about your work, you'll stick with it longer than those just chasing money. Passion boosts your discipline.

2. Trust your gut, but back it up with research. Many great ideas seem unrealistic at first. Successful businesses often start this way. Ground your dreams in data by talking to experts, testing ideas, and understanding costs and competition before investing heavily. Also, keep learning and building your skills.

3. It's okay if your first attempt isn't perfect. Think of it as practice. You'll gain valuable skills and insights for your next venture.

4. Avoid making quick decisions out of fear or excitement. Impulsive choices can be harmful. Sometimes it's better to step back and think things through for better long-term results.

5. Be ready for slow or negative returns in the first year. This is normal. Many give up too soon expecting quick success. Consistency and learning are more important than quick wins.

6. Allow yourself to change direction if needed. If something isn't working, changing course isn't failure—it's smart.

To enjoy the journey, create a routine that keeps your energy up, ignore negativity from those who don't understand your vision, and remember that business is a long-term game. Those who stay calm and focused usually succeed.
