What steps, both strategic and good for the soul, should I take now to ensure that in five years, I am not just working in beauty marketing but also leading creative campaigns that reflect my vision, voice, and values?
I am currently a high school senior interested in film, literature, fashion, and beauty. I am hoping to pursue a career in marketing in a field related to my interests, but I also want to stay true to my passions, ethics, and imagination. The first thing is to look for a company that is flexible and open to implementing what you want. Many large companies already have their own brand book and guidelines. Even if you come up with great ideas, you won't really be able to implement them because the company already has a foundation.
It's easier to do this with medium-sized companies where you can build with them.
When you're searching or interviewing, it's important to ask all of these questions so you don't come across too many where you can execute but can't create much.
