How do I work on trying to find a job in roller coaster engineering after I graduate from college?

I am majoring in mechanical engineering, and my dream is to become a roller coaster engineer for amusement parks, but I have no idea how to find a job in this field.

what a niche pursuit, this is a very highly competitive field that requires a blend of core mechanical engineering skills and specific industry knowledge. Since it is a small world, your success depends heavily on getting specialized experience and networking with the right manufacturers. I would say DUBAI.....but wait till the situation settle downs

With your mechanical Degree I would suggest

Specialized Coursework: Focus on structural dynamics, materials science, and physics.
Software Mastery: You must be highly proficient in CAD tools like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and CATIA.
Licensing: Aim to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam immediately after graduation to work toward your Professional Engineer (PE) license, which is often required for safety-critical roles

Shadowing engineers and seeking informational sessions can also help you understand real design work and build early industry connections, while volunteering in maker spaces, robotics clubs, or technical maintenance environments can strengthen practical exposure.

Start your career in related industries like aerospace, automotive, or heavy machinery, ideally in simulation, structural, or dynamics-focused roles that align with ride engineering skills. Then transition into themed entertainment through companies like Walt Disney Imagineering, Universal Creative, Bolliger & Mabillard, and Intamin Amusement Rides, supported by internships, IAAPA networking, and long-term relationship building, before gradually specializing into ride design through experience in safety certification, iterative design, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
