What should i choose CSE or ECE?
so i am a dropper gave my JEE exam this year and get a good rank.. But now in counselling process i am very confused about choosing branch CSE or ECE .. everyone is saying different prospective like " CSE is not reliable due to AI and jobs are terrible in CSE" and someone is like " CSE is the best " others are saying "ECE is the future.it is going to explode due to India's semiconductor Mission " i don't know about branch that much but i like physics a lot[ i get 99 percentile in JEE MAINS and i enjoy it more than anything] but moderate in Math because i was a NEET aspirant .but i know math . i would get ECE in top NIT s like ROURKELA, SURATHKAL[ i get it in my mock seat allotment ] ,WARANGAL and CSE in IIIT ALLAHABAD , NIT CALICUT,NIT DURGAPUR so now please help me

Do not listen to rumors; rely on real experience and clarity. I studied electrical and computer engineering, worked on control systems engineering, and am currently in software engineering. Success does not depend on a perfect branch but on building skills aligned with your strengths and goals. AI is not a threat, so do not fear it; it will automate and multiply your productivity and make you highly competitive, and professionals with AI mastery will have a strong advantage over those who do not adapt.
CSE offers broad future career opportunities and flexible paths in software development, AI/ML, data science, cybersecurity, and cloud computing, and it is widely used across industries like finance, healthcare, aerospace, automotive, and robotics, allowing easier movement between roles as technology evolves. ECE is more math- and physics-heavy and specialized in embedded systems, VLSI, power systems, control systems, and telecommunications, and it can also lead into aerospace, avionics, and advanced engineering roles in companies like SpaceX, Tesla, and Boeing through pathways such as control systems, embedded systems, and hardware engineering. If you are weak in math or unsure about your goals, CSE is usually the safer choice because it gives time to explore through coding, projects, and internships. Choose based on interest, potential, and consistency, and keep updating yourself and building skills continuously because AI will change how work is done, not replace people.

Since you explicitly love Physics and have options at absolute top-tier legacy NITs like Surathkal or Warangal, taking ECE there is a phenomenal choice. You get a great brand name, a gorgeous campus life, a subject you naturally like, and you can still learn coding on the side to sit for software jobs if you want to!

Clearly, you have a great gift for the engineering profession and I do appreciate your aspiration to pursue it. Just remember that the profession has always focused on resolving challenges that affect humanity. Therefore, meeting human needs is it's core mandate.
Many factors influence the choice of careers. Natural gifts/talent is one of them. It's also important to choose what you love and enjoy doing. Making a difference in people's lives is the main goal irrespective of your choice of career.

Choose your degree as per your interest only.If you think that ECE is good match for you then go for it.Dont much think about which sector will flourish in future.You can choose degree as per your interest but also do some certificate course in AI or ML which will help you get good job.

ECE keeps both doors open—you can still grab a high-paying software job by coding in your free time, or you can go into core electronics.
