1. What profession did you choose as a Physician Assistant? Why? ? Physician Assistants are providers that practice medicine in various settings and specialities. Right after graduation, I chose to work as an inpatient cardiology PA because I enjoyed the cardiology rotation during my clinical year of PA school. It is very rewarding to see how patients improve throughout their hospital stay and I liked educating them about their cardiac diagnoses and treatments. Recently, I was offered a position in vascular surgery which I accepted. On top of seeing patients in the clinical setting, I am able to assist in different procedures and be more hands on. The best part about being a PA in my opinion is the flexibility of being able to change specialities.

2. How many years of college did you need to go through?
4 years to obtain my bachelors and then 26 months in PA school for masters of physician assistant studies.

3. What jobs did you work before you landed your present professional job?
I worked as a medical assistant to get the required hours to apply to PA school.

4. How can I decide if I should earn a Ph.D. in this field?
After practicing as a PA, if you choose to be on a hospital board or teach for example, then a PhD might be beneficial. However, as a clinical PA PhD would not be needed.

5. Were you in a college program?
Yes
