Caryn’s Career Stories

In layperson terms, what do you actually do at work?

I spend part of my time recruiting potential candidates to fit the needs of my store. The rest of my time is spent celebrating team member accomplishments and milestones or I am in operations. While in operations, I might be simply bagging food, filling drinks, delivering or taking orders, or leading the team that is accomplishing these tasks.

How did you pick your career? Did you know all along?

My career actually picked me. Initially, I wanted to do something completely different. I even earned a degree in a field I am not currently serving in. I graduated college right before the global pandemic of 2020 and couldn't land a job. So I applied at a local food chain in order to create some income while I looked for my dream job. As it turns out, I found exactly what I was made for. I don't feel like I was created for the fast-food industry, but I do feel created to help other people find their passion. I found myself smack-dab in the middle of a bunch of high school and college students who needed guidance, direction, tutoring, advice, encouragement, and someone who believes in them. I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else; I have never felt more fulfilled in a job.

What is the one piece of career advice you wish someone gave you when you were younger?

Success is not measured in your role or prestige at a company. Success is measured in how well you treat your fellow employees.
