About

Andrea Pérez is the Founder and Executive Director of Silent Grace. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, she studied Business Law and Music Business at the University of Miami in 2001. She found herself living and working in an at-risk community in Miami where she devoted her time to community development and organization. She then worked as a hands-on volunteer at children’s orphanages in South Sudan and Uganda during the winter of 2007. The following year she worked in Barack Obama’s Presidential Campaign in Puerto Rico and Philadelphia, PA as a Field Organizer. Andrea went back to Africa, this time to Ghana as part of a medical mission trip. Fueled by all of these experiences, she founded Silent Grace. Registered as a non-profit organization, Silent Grace is committed to social justice and the implementation of economically and ecologically sustainable projects in developing countries. Under Andrea’s leadership, the organization has undertaken projects that range from educational programs on social justice and sustainability, to humanitarian relief and comprehensive community development programs, particularly in Haiti. She collaborated in developing agriculture projects in an indigenous Mayan community in Guatemala. In 2011, Andrea was chosen to speak in the first TEDxSanJuan event in Puerto Rico. Andrea has a master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Puerto Rico and she completed her first year as a doctoral student in Global Health at Boston University.
