Its admirable to want to utilize your gifts and abilities to better your community. I had a good friend that said you can't brighten the whole world. But you CAN brighten your corner of the world. I've seen that be the truth. A very rewarding truth. Keep in mind your passion, your heartbeat, and what drives you. Write them down. Keep them in sight daily. Then keep your eyes open for every opportunity to put in action.

*In regard to your education, keep your options open to take classes/courses that will expose you to new things, new people, and new adventures if it has nothing to do with your major. You never know what may come in handy in your future.
*Do some research on things going on in your community and what the need may be out there. For example, is there a literacy issue? Volunteer to read or help kids read. Is there a hunger issue? Help the local pantry, get the word out to friends & family what services may be offered for those in need. Taking a pulse check on the community around you will help you see what they need. If there's not an outreach for a need, put one together. It is possible.
*Speaking of future, plan for you future, have the goal(s) in mind but also be ready to pivot should life switch things up for you. Don't let anyone deter you from your path and do not accept less than. Keep a journal ( I have more than one) for memories but also you can look back and see your growth.

Keeping these things in mind, you definitely have the potential to be successful with your goals.

Finding a positive path in life should be the goal at the beginning of each day. The heart of the matter is seeking the balance between personal understanding and contributing to society. Using your writing skills complements both pursuits.
Upon waking, it may seem hollow at first, but writing down thoughts about what matters most to remember as you move through the day helps to focus attention on positive activities not in a naval gazing fashion but in a foundational sense, so that daily, the reminder is to continue in a direction that is for one's own good and the good of others.
Small deeds performed with thoughtfulness add mortar to the bricks of a positive daily life. It is sometimes more challenging to show kindness to the people you live with than to strangers. Your own family is a good place to practice kindness.
Volunteering outside the home is also a wonderful thing to do, but just extending a hand to others you pass while you are going to activities is a stretch of the self. What if you spoke to the school outcast and risked ridicule even from your friends? Volunteer for that once and see what occurs!
I like to think about my hands as I move through the day - how are they extended in a positive way to others and even to myself. If my actions are from a positive core, the outcomes will lend to positive things.
At the end of the day, you can return to the journal and record ways that you achieved a goal or fell short so that the next morning can be a reset. Balance is the key and constancy is the door. Writing is the means to awareness,
