Siva’s Answer

Hello Liam,

I really like the perspectives shared above answers especially the point around AI is not just a future concern, it’s already here and changing how work gets done. What stands out to me about your question is not fear, but curiosity. You have the right mindset.

The real dividing line won’t be “AI vs HUMAN”, but it is:
People who use AI as a tool to think better vs people who wait to be told what to do next.

If you are already driven to learn, experiment, and stay curious, you are ahead.

My practical advice:
- Don’t ask “Will AI take my job?”. Ask “How can I use AI to solve real problems better than yesterday?”
- Apply AI to things you already care about — projects, hobbies, school, communities.
- Learn by doing, not just reading about trends.
- Find mentors or peers who are building with AI, not just talking about it.

The mindset is what keeps you relevant long-term.
– Siva

Jatin’s Answer

AI will transform IT jobs, not simply replace them. Routine, repetitive tasks like basic coding, testing, and monitoring are increasingly automated, which may reduce demand for some roles. However, AI also creates new opportunities in areas such as AI engineering, data science, cybersecurity, system design, and governance. The real shift is in skill requirements.
We might see the roles changing however Human + AI will produce much more efficient outcomes and we will see more opportunities getting created in areas less explored.

Doriana’s Answer

Hi Liam, that's a fantastic question! AI won't replace people's jobs. Instead, it's changing how we work. Right now, jobs are evolving, and new ones are appearing. According to Gartner, a research firm, only 1% of job cuts in 2025 will be due to AI. Most changes will come from economic factors.

Doriana recommends the following next steps:

This means that new pathways to gain experience with AI are required for both experienced and junior workers. Companies are urged to invest in upskilling their workforce and redesign processes to leverage AI effectively.

Michelle’s Answer

Hello, Liam !

I see by your tags that you are interested in Technology and Computer Science, you could be learning Artificial Intelligence and gain that skill so you wouldn't have to be concerned about AI job takeover.

The question is not WILL Artificial Intelligence replace humans at jobs, it already has. Some of the replaced jobs that AI is currently being used in are retail cashiers, travel agents, basic customer service representatives, receptionists, warehouse workers, proofreaders, bookkeepers, and bank tellers. These jobs have been significantly impacted or replaced by AI-powered systems. I am also aware that supermarkets are using robots for maintenance and dental offices are using robots in place of dental hygienists - not all places, but it's currently being used. The Fashion Industry will see some job replacement with over 70% of the fashion industry planning to use AI.

Other ways that AI is being used already and replacing hands on work is in Finance and Accounting, aspects of Legal and Research, Web Content and Media, Healthcare Support analyzing X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs faster than human assistants, reducing the role of radiology assistants in imaging diagnostics. But is FASTER more accurate is my question.

So since you are interested in technology and computer science according to your Tags here, you can take AI courses at college along with your chosen Major. The colleges that offer Artificial Intelligence courses in Maryland are The University of Maryland - College Park, Johns Hopkins University, and The University of Maryland in Baltimore. Morgan State University provides a six-month AI machine learning boot camp with 300 hours of self-guided learning and an online Master of Science in Advanced Computing with an AI emphasis. The Community College of Baltimore County is awaiting approval from the Maryland Higher Education Commission for an Associates Degree program in AI.

If you get your degree for and go into Technology/Computer Science/Robotics, with the skill for AI you can be most assured that you would be involved in it in your career position. Professors in college keep students up to date about this, so make strong connections with the professors and staff in your Major Department in college.

So my advice is to choose a specific career now so you'll know what to Major in at college. Consider attending a college that offers Artificial Intelligence courses or full programs and live in the moment. Read MIT Technology Review, AI Magazine, Emerj, Artificial Intelligence Research, The AI Journal, Analytics Insight Magazine, Technology Magazine and other sources to stay current and let the future unfold as it will. The best thing to do about AI is to follow it as it goes along. Projecting and wondering about the future is not very helpful. Do more exploring now to understand the way AI is currently being used.

I hope this helps and is something to consider and I wish you all the best !

Roy’s Answer

Great question and a fear of many I am sure.

Like any tool it is how you use it. Example while you could say it has replaced some tasks of mine, I LOVE It. I'm great at problem solving, math etc...but ask me to write something concise and short to the point and I struggled with that for years. Using different techniques tools, etc.

Now I use AI/Copilot to be precises, and still write it up as usual, look at the advice (Which is not always accurate and what I want), make adjustments etc. Then as I read my final product, it's much much better than my original.

I also look back, try to learn from what it suggested, and therefore increase my ability to do this without Co Pilot etc.

I think of AI as an augment to what I do, use it as a tool, I know some developers who use it as a start or check on code they write.

AI has limitations, and also hallucinates, so you have to be careful about the output you receive and have good idea of the subject.

Besides as a result of being able to write better, faster and more concise, this frees me up to do more exciting work or tasks that I enjoy.

Good luck, and my best to you in 2026 New Year.

Yoav’s Answer

It is completely natural to feel a sense of curiosity mixed with uncertainty when looking at how quickly artificial intelligence is advancing, but the future of IT is more about evolution than replacement. While it is true that AI is beginning to handle some of the more repetitive tasks like basic coding or routine data monitoring, this shift actually opens the door for you to focus on the more exciting and human parts of technology, such as creative problem solving, system architecture, and ethical oversight. Think of AI as a powerful new tool in your toolkit, much like the transition from manual calculations to spreadsheets, which didn't eliminate accountants but instead allowed them to do much more complex and impactful work. The IT industry will always need people who can think critically, connect technology to human needs, and manage the very AI systems we are building today. By staying curious and learning how to work alongside these new tools, you are setting yourself up to be an essential part of the next generation of tech innovators. You have a bright future ahead of you in this field, and your unique human perspective is exactly what the industry will continue to value most. I believe in your ability to navigate this changing landscape and find a rewarding path that makes the most of both your skills and these new technologies. Good luck.
Thank you comment icon I also saw a 60 Minutes segment the other day on Humanoid ATLAS, check it out at Boston Scientific. It has answers on AI and Robotics that I think you will find interesting Liam. My feeling is no, not totally, will it help to take away some mundane tasks YES, I for one can't wait for something to mow my lawn and cut my hedges, without my having to do it. :) Roy Potvin

Sandeep’s Answer

Hello Liam,

Artificial Intelligence will definitely change jobs in IT, but it is unlikely to completely replace them.

Instead of removing jobs, AI is mostly reshaping IT roles. New opportunities are being created in areas like AI development, data engineering, cybersecurity, system design, and AI governance. Developers who learn how to work with AI tools rather than compete against them

In simple terms, AI won’t replace IT professionals, but IT professionals who don’t adapt may be replaced by those who do. The future belongs to people who keep learning, upgrade their skills, and use AI as a tool to work smarter.

Candelaria’s Answer

Hi Liam! Hope you're doing great!

AI is growing fast, but I don’t think it will replace jobs as much as it will change *how* those jobs are done.

AI is a tool. When used well, it can be a huge help at work! automating repetitive tasks, speeding up debugging, analyzing information, and assisting with documentation. Rather than eliminating the need for professionals, it allows them to focus on higher-value or more strategic work.

It’s also important to remember that AI doesn’t replace human judgment. Critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making still require people. On top of that, new roles are emerging, such as AI engineers, prompt engineers, data engineers, AI security specialists, etc. And tasks like model training, validation, monitoring barely existed before and now require skilled professionals.

So instead of asking, “Will AI take jobs?” a better question is, “How can professionals use AI to be more effective?”

Best,
Candelaria

Teklemuz Ayenew’s Answer

Your question is thoughtful and reflective. It is true that AI is growing rapidly every year, but it cannot completely replace IT jobs; instead, it automates tasks faster and more efficiently. While AI may automate certain entry-level IT tasks, it cannot replace intermediate or senior-level roles. Human judgment, critical thinking, creativity, and accuracy still remain in the hands of people, not AI, so there is no need to fear it.

To stay relevant and competitive, you should continuously update your skills and familiarize yourself with emerging technologies. Learning how to leverage and master AI is essential, as it is meant to support professionals, not replace them. However, professionals with AI expertise and those without AI knowledge cannot expect equal demand or equal opportunities in the job market. Those who can effectively work with AI will naturally have a stronger advantage.

Make yourself proficient in your desired role by developing the required skills and knowledge, supported by hands-on experience. This can be achieved by building personal projects, participating in internships or volunteering, and shadowing experienced professionals. In addition, networking with industry professionals on platforms such as LinkedIn, GitHub, and Stack Overflow will help you learn, showcase your work, and discover new opportunities. If you have genuine passion for an IT career, strong potential, and clear career goals, nothing, not even AI, can stop you from achieving your dream job.

Fair question! I work for a company that is rapidly developing AI products. Our goal is to have Huamns + AI work together, not to replace jobs but to make them more efficient. IT will always need a human element that cannot be fulfilled by AI. AI will just be there to assist and automate the workforce, not fully replace human jobs. At least for now!
