But studying business will give your additional insights about a business, managing a business and what it takes to be a successful business owner. Management studies will introduce your the theory behind business management, finance and execution. It will help you with skills that you will need in the real world running any business including budgeting, planning, marketing and relationship management.

Being your own boss can be very rewarding and a degree in business management will help get you on your way. The degree will give you a lot of knowledge in several areas like accounting, economics, finance and leadership to name a few. This degree will also help as you prepare to be your own boss because you may need to create a solid business plan to get the funding necessary to start your own business. Once that is secured you will need to execute on that plan.

I know our local community college offers classes and majors specifically in Entrepreneurship so check to see if online schools or colleges close to you offer same

You can be your own boss no matter what you study. It pays to know the economics of business to succeed. Business Management is a very good major to help you succeed. I recommend you take an entrepreneurship class as well that will focus on starting and running your own business. I also recommend you intern in the industry of your interest and learn from the successes and failures of others.
