Peter’s Answer

One over-riding question you need to ask yourself, Sai: Are you doing this help Humanity or as a means to look good on a college application? Perhaps motives don't ultimately matter, but be honest with yourself on what you really want.
Here's a practical proposal if you are really interested in helping Humanity. You could accomplish a lot more a lot quicker by joining an existing humanitarian organization. Possibilities include the local Red Cross, the Key Club (high school chapters of the Kiwanis Club) or a local tutoring program. This would allow you to quickly engage with and enrich the lives of people in your community. As other responders have outlined above, trying to start your own organization from scratch takes a great amount of effort and might not accomplish very much for a long time. Keep in mind that I, personally, have no Social Media presence or experience; you just may have enough savvy to pull something off.

Nandini’s Answer

Hello Sai,

Below are some of the thing that might help you find a solution to your question:
1. When you say online organization, what do you have in mind? Is this a website, a blog, video blog (vlog), etc.
2. If the only reason you are aspiring to do this is for your college application, then yes, it can help your application as long as you tailor your online organization to reflect what you want your college to see. Ex: If you want them to admire your knowledge in AI, then you can build a blog dedicated to AI progresses made or AI applications in a specific industry like Healthcare.
3. If you need to build one, you can try a blog - there was various online servers that will host a blog, a video blog on youtube
4. "Major issues that need a solution" - There are tons of these. You just need to look around you to identify an issue. However, since you are using your online organization for college application, I would focus on something relevant (ex: AI applications in real life, metaverse, etc.)

Hope my answers help you out. Have a great rest of your day!

Nandini recommends the following next steps:

Think about what you envision when you say online organization
What topic interests you and is relevant to your field in college
How can you make an impact to your field with you online organization

I responded to your other question about blogging, but this is a different animal. Building an online application is more demanding of internet skills, as blogging is designed to require few technical skills and is a platform for ideas. An online application is a site that has a design, structure, and a compelling message. Posting a link to an example website would have been helpful to give you useful feedback. If you are looking for a platform to experiment with developing a site, I suggest you use wix.com, as it allows you to build a website for free and has an extensive set of tools available. I am not sure if my response here is what you were seeking, but maybe it can be of some use. The good news is that you can do a lot on the internet for free. All the best in your pursuits.

Chirayu’s Answer

Yes, having an online organization can make you stand out in college applications, as it demonstrates leadership skills, initiative, and creativity. Here are a few steps you can take to build an online organization- Identify a need or gap in your community that your organization can address. This could be a social, environmental, or educational issue.
Develop a clear mission and vision for your organization, and decide on its goals and objectives. Build a team of like-minded individuals who share your passion and are willing to help bring your vision to life.
Choose a platform to build your organization's website and social media presence, such as Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress. Reach out to potential members, partners, and sponsors, and work on creating a solid network of support.

Some major issues that online organizations may face include- Lack of resources and funding, which can impact the organization's ability to reach its goals and sustain itself. Difficulty in attracting and retaining members and volunteers, especially if the organization's goals and mission are not clearly communicated.
Competition from other organizations and initiatives, which can make it challenging to stand out and get the support you need.
Managing the organization's online presence and maintaining consistent communication with members and partners. Ensuring the privacy and security of your organization's data and information. By taking steps to address these challenges, you can build a strong and effective online organization that will make a positive impact and help you stand out in college applications

Ann’s Answer

Peter's comment is a good framework to look at. How would the organization help others and what would it entail? If you can find a vision and positive, helpful purpose for the organization or application, then you can run with it. To build an organization, you have to be clear what you mean by organization. You mentioned you are interested in computers and AI - are you trying to build an organization of likeminded individuals who want to make positive applications for computers? If so, I would reach out online for mentors who build computer applications, and those majoring in computer science or engineering to understand the fields. You can join existing organizations and volunteer to understand coding, AI, and other fields.
