What certifications should I get to get a job in computer science?

I hear a lot about AWS certifications or Amazon ones. Which ones are best to get into machine learning and data science jobs?

In addition to the suggestions already made, you have the opportunity to experiment with technology at home. You can get your hands on basic kits for constructing simple robots, programming sets, and even grants that can provide you with these resources at no charge. Personally, I find great joy in using RaspberryPi kits to build a vintage arcade or dive into various programming projects. I bring up these projects because many of these certifications are grounded in the fundamental elements you'll learn while simply enjoying technology. If you're looking for an introductory certification that's relevant to most career paths, I recommend starting with Comptia A+ or similar certifications. These are achievable and can assist you in identifying further interest in specific subjects.

I would keep in mind that certifications aren't necessarily the end-all, be-all of how to get into these fields. These courses come with a price tag mostly for the prestige of a piece of paper from an accredited source at the end to prove that you have the knowledge. While some specific jobs might look for or require certifications, there are twice as many that don't care how you got the skills, as long as you can prove you have them through what you've worked on. There are a lot of nontraditional routes to the tech field and a good company that values lots of perspectives will welcome all walks. To that end, use free resources, like the Google crash course on machine learning, build projects that showcase your knowledge, and add them to your portfolio. That sort of self-starting attitude matters just as much as if you'd paid for the certificate.

Hi Anna,
One of the best certifications you can get is for data science. There are several out there. I personally did a year-long program on Coursera (the content was created by Johns Hopkins) and it was fantastic. This will give you a fundamental understanding of computer science, including topics such as data cleaning, modeling (machine learning), replication, and presentation. You'll also be introduced to either R or Python, which are both very popular data science programming languages. You will get a certification if you successfully complete the entire course. Each module takes a month so plan on a new set of lessons and homework assignments every week, but if it's going too fast you can always pause for a month and then resume. After that, you could continue to look at specialized courses like neural networks, deep learning, and natural language processing.

Hi Anna! CompTIA A+, Cisco's CCDE, and EC-Council's CEH are among the top certifications in Computer Science. They require significant dedication and effort. It might be worth considering a different career path until you complete your studies and have a wider range of career choices.

I think that it really depends on what your major will be, here are the following majors:

Artificial intelligence
Cybersecurity
Data science
Software engineering
Digital media
Biocomputation
Human-computer interaction
Information management
Software theory
Cloud computing
Machine learning

Depending on your major then you can take certifications accordingly as some certifications take months of in depth studies and you need to pay for the exam which can be expensive and time consuming if you don't know a path.

Find information of each specialization and see what resonates more with you, Think about the career path you see yourself doing in the next 5 years.
Look online for the tools that are required in your role as xxxx (career path)
Look online for certifications that you can take in that career path.
Explore and check time frames of studies as well as costs, always look for the main source for the certification to be 100% sure you are getting the right certification.

Do checkout aka.ms/learn to look at some certification paths that you can take based on the tech roles you want to puruse. Of course, certification is only one way to learn programming/about tech. Take the time to tinker with technology and try different ways of problem solving to pique your interest
