Advice on getting into Security Awareness or Technical writer ?

I am a recent Cybersecurity graduate looking to break into Security Awareness and Human Risk Management, I am looking for advice on the most strategic entry-to-junior level roles to target. Specifically, would it be more effective to build foundational skills as a Technical Writer to master security documentation, or should I aim directly for Junior Security Awareness Analyst roles? I’d love insight into which path hiring managers value more for someone starting out.

How to get into cybersecurity?

Hello, I’m a college student and I’m currently looking into a career path in cybersecurity. I recently took a computer science course at school and was intrigued with the skills I developed in that course. I was hoping you could answer the following questions: What degree route you took to get into cyber security? What degree you have? What school you went to and how you passed the GCIH exams? What position did you start off with and where you’re at now?

What’s the best way to break into the cybersecurity field as an international student with 9 months of studying cybersecurity experience, 500+ job applications, and an ongoing Security+ certification?

Hi everyone, I’ve been studying cybersecurity for the past 9+ months and actively applying to internships and entry-level roles, with over 500 applications and 250+ LinkedIn connections so far. A few connections helped with referrals, but my resume still gets rejected. Last month, I felt devastated and started doubting myself. But I gathered courage and started preparing for CompTIA Security+ to strengthen my foundation. I’ve optimized my resume for ATS, participated in CTFs, and improved my LinkedIn, but I’m still struggling to land interviews. Can someone please guide me? What is the right approach to land my first cybersecurity internship/job? What specific skills or certifications helped you get your first break? How do I know if I’m "job-ready"? Should I focus on one company or keep applying everywhere? Any tips, encouragement, or actionable steps would mean the world. 🙏 Thank you!

Computer science vs Cybersecurity BS?

My school offers a BS in Computer Science and a BS in Cybersecurity. No specializations, they are their own separate BS degrees. They offer similar classes in the beginning, but then change and become more focused near the end. I am wanting to know, if anyone knows, what each field is like? For reference, I have always loved NASA since I was a child and have wanted to work for them, but I have also dreamed of working for a 3 letter agency. I have lived near DC and NSA, so I know the area where Cyber would be great, but I am also from Florida and wouldn’t mind living on the east coast, working at Kennedy Space Center (lol). I am having a rough time with this and have spoken to counselors, but I am wanting to hear from real people in these professions, if possible. #cybersecurity #compsci #computerscience #technology #cyber #cybersec #infosec #cyber-security
