Did anyone ever oppose your career plans when you were young or push you in a direction you did not want to go?
I initially wanted to be a pediatrician because, in my culture, a career as a doctor or lawyer was considered prestigious when I was younger. When I informed my parents that I had chosen to pursue a degree as a nurse practitioner, they questioned who had influenced my decision. My response was God. They have been incredibly supportive throughout my nursing career. I have no regrets.
