Molly’s Career Stories
In layperson terms, what do you actually do at work?
I am a recruiter for a top Medical Device company. I review what is needed in a candidate, along with the hiring manager, then set out to find a slate of outstanding individuals to interview for the role. I screen them and based on how well they match, I help determine next steps.
When you were a student, did you do anything outside of school to build skills or get knowledge that has helped your career?
Yes! Took on leadership roles in professional college organizations. Interned (for free!) over the summer.
What is the biggest challenge you had to overcome to get to where you are now professionally? How did you overcome it?
Getting turned down for a promotional opportunity early in my career. I was devastated, I wasn't used to hearing no! Ultimately it made me stronger AND taught me that the first time may not always be the right time.
What is the one piece of career advice you wish someone gave you when you were younger?
Research the company you end up going to work for as much as possible. Learn about the culture, the turnover, the long term benefits. Today, there are so many resources available to do this.
