About

I have 29 years military service. I enlisted in the U.S. Marine corps reserve while I was stilin High School and went to boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego, CA ten days after I graduated from high school. After six-months active duty for training, I returned to my reserve unit where I served for seven years. When I graduated from college, I attendedMarine Corps Officer Candidate school, was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. I served with the 1st Marine Aircraft Wingin Vietnam. My Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) was communication officer but I served in many types of billets (jobs). I remained on active duty for 22-years. 7 years USMCR + 22 years USMC = 29 years.

After retiring from active service in the Marine Corps, I whad a second career in higher education. I worked as a Career Counselor and a Career counselor at UCLA. I was there for 11-years. While I was working at UCLA, I used my GI bill and earned a PhD. I worked at UCLA for 11 years. After I got my PhD from UCLA I was hired by the University of Hawaii at Hilo to run their Career Center. After 13 years, I retired from the University of Hawaii in 1974. When I retired, I was the Executive Director of Career and Academic Advising.
