What do I need to do in order to start my own small middle or tiny home co-op & who can help fund the idea ?

I am now over 50 but has always had dreams of owning and running my own co-op here in my community. It’s never too late to learn so I am going to go back to school start Summer 2025 @ Clackamas Community College. I applied as a Freshman to get an Associate Business Admin degree.

Hi Chaemok,

I believe Happy Valley is in Oregon but please let me know if that is incorrect! The Northwest Cooperative Development Center (link: https://nwcdc.coop/) is a non-profit that helps people start co-ops in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. I think they would be a great resource to connect with as they know what the funding options looks like in your area!

Please, note the following, concerning how you can start your own co-op:-
1. General knowledge and INTEREST in the business.
2. Location of the business.
3. Favourable marketing conditions.
4. Favourable government policies.
5. Funding can be sought from local financial institutions. For example, the local banks, etc.

Best regards.
