How to I get the Stamps President's Scholarship from Georgia Tech?

Hi, I am a sophomore in high school and I'm determined to receive the the Stamps President's Scholarship from Georgia Tech especially because I want to go to medical school after (I want to be an Emergency Medicine Physician) so I want to have as little debt as possible. I have straight A's, am on track to take the hardest classes, participate in cross country and track, which I received a coach's award in last year, am currently in process of working on my girl scout gold award, my goal being to push for increase in minimum wage and support medical needs of the unhoused, I am in HOSA and Women in Medicine leadership this year, I am in key club, this past summer I was in a shadowing program at a hospital where I also presented an official research project about oral health in the unhoused (I surveyed these people to get my data). I plan to keep doing this program. I am in orchestra. I help my brother, who is on the autism spectrum and needs extra support, basically in most of my free time. I know this Scholarship is practically impossible to get. I am so determined to get there. Stamps President's Scholarship alumni (specifically from georgia tech if possible), or other professionals, please give me advice for how I can make my dream a reality. I have read everything on the website and know how it works but I just want to know if someone can give me specific advice.

High school seniors who apply for admission to Georgia Tech by the Early Action deadline each year will be automatically considered for the Stamps President’s Scholars Program. From the pool of admitted students, between 425 and 450 will be selected as semifinalists for the Stamps President’s and Gold Scholarships. The semifinalist pool will participate in a virtual, asynchronous interview to evaluate program fit.

Around 150 finalists will be named in February and invited to participate in Stamps Scholars Weekend in March for additional activities and interviews. Those finalists who choose to attend Georgia Tech the next fall will join the Office of Scholar Programs community as either a Stamps President’s Scholar or a Gold Scholar.

To strengthen your chances, continue deepening your impact in each area. The scholarship selection process includes interviews and group activities that assess leadership and collaboration, so practicing how you communicate your values and vision is key. The Stamps Scholarship provides access to mentorship, research funding, and a national network of scholars who’ve gone on to medical school. You’re not just aiming for a scholarship—you’re preparing to become a leader in medicine and service. With straight A’s, a rigorous academic track, athletic achievements in cross country and track, leadership roles in HOSA and Women in Medicine, and a powerful Girl Scout Gold Award project focused on raising minimum wage and supporting the medical needs of the unhoused, you’re building a profile that reflects the scholarship’s core values. Also, your summer hospital shadowing experience and research presentation on oral health in the unhoused show initiative and compassion.

The Stamps President’s Scholarship at Georgia Tech is ultra-competitive, but you’re already on the right track. To maximize your chances:

1. Academics – Keep straight A’s in the hardest classes, aim for top SAT/ACT scores, and pursue unique research or competitions.

2. Depth over breadth – Focus on a few standout activities (Girl Scout Gold Award, HOSA leadership, health research) and make them high-impact, sustainable, and measurable.

3. Leadership & service – Show initiative (create projects, lead teams, mentor others), not just participation.

4. Personal story – Use your experience helping your brother and serving the unhoused to highlight character, empathy, and resilience.

5. Georgia Tech connection – Apply Early Action 1, show Tech is your #1, and get involved in GT programs if possible.

6. Backup scholarships – Also apply for Morehead-Cain, Jefferson, Emory Scholars, Coca-Cola, QuestBridge, etc.

đŸ‘‰ Focus now on making your Gold Award + HOSA + research your signature story with measurable impact.
