Volunteer on a campaign.
Volunteer to do calls on behalf of a campaign or organization. By volunteering, they may be willing to share their information and polling data with you (after the election, of course). That will give you good data to do your research from.

Another avenue is self-publishing on sites like Medium.com. That will save you the hassle of setting up and maintaining your own blog. Publishing on Medium also means your writing is on a platform that thousands (tens of thousands? hundreds of thousands?) of readers visit every day.
