I'm an English learning designer for Busuu, which involves writing and publishing English language lessons and designing syllabuses. I'm also an EFL teacher trainer, helping EFL teachers prepare for the Cambridge DELTA or for work in the TEFL field.

In layperson terms, what do you actually do at work?
I write online English lessons for learners to do by themselves on an app or on our website. I've written courses in both general and academic English, and even a course on a teen soap drama called London Central.
When did you get your first Big Break? How did you get it? How did it go?
At every job I applied for and got, I was the "wild card" choice. I didn't have direct experience or desirable qualifications at the time of applying, but I learned what it would take to do the job well and what I can see could enhance or improve the company's current practices. These two angles piqued the interest of my interviewers every time. Every time I landed a new job, I made sure to level up my qualifications.
How did you start building your network?
I started attending conferences related to my job and walked up to people who gave talks that really inspired me. I made most of my contacts outside of my company through BALEAP and IATEFL (both UK conference providers).
