Steven’s Career Stories
What is the most useful piece of career advice you got as a student, and who gave it to you?
The best life advice I ever received: don't make assumptions, and don't take things personally. (This has helped avoid so much unnecessary strife and ill feelings.) The best advice for animation I ever received came from my mentors at Bill Melendez Productions/Melendez Films: study life! To understand how the body moves, anatomy, human behavior, how clothing folds when the body moves, etc. It is crucial. The best advice for producing a movie I ever received: treat people the way you would like to be treated, and leave your ego at the door.
