About
I am an instructional designer and project manager for the Learning and Development function for a professional services firm (e.g., audit/accounting, tax and advisory). My role is to help design and develop in-person or online learning programs that help our organization's team members to follow learning requirements and/or develop their professional skills.
Kayo’s Career Stories
What is the one piece of career advice you wish someone gave you when you were younger?
In your later years of high school and in college, many people ask you what career you would like to be in, but it was not clear to me what all my options were. This is particularly true if you are considering professions that are not clear-cut and those that don't have set titles, such as occupational therapist, doctor, attorney, engineer, teacher, software developer, electrician, etc. I knew I wanted to do something in learning without being a teacher, but I did not know what else there was other than a teacher or principal. I had good writing and editing skills, the ability to provide consultation, and synthesize and organize complex information, but I didn't know what job title in learning that could translate to, probably because those were pretty broad skills and because roles in learning are not very well known. I wish I had a way to better explore so many more types of careers and wish someone could've helped me to better translate the skills I have into tangible careers and helped me see what I could do with them in my professional life.
