What do recruiters/ employers look for at conferences or career fairs, and how can I make a strong impression?

I’m attending my first NOMAS conference as an architecture student, and I hope to connect with employers and find an internship. I would like to approach the experience with clear goals and break my preparation into manageable steps.

What are questions I should ask an alum who graduated in the same major (Architecture) as I am enrolled in?

I am current undergraduate student who's majoring in Architecture with my current goal of working in corporate architecture. Though architecture is a large field, I am trying to find some type of connection of career paths from others.
