Sarah’s Career Stories

How did you pick your career? Did you know all along?

You're sitting it a class-any class, you feel bored. The paper in front of you is scrubbed with notes that you are able to catch, but the pen or pencil moves to the side and the doodles just come. Your mind is on a show or something that interests you and you just want to explore that and only that. You love art, you like making things including messes. Your parents know you rather draw then do homework and it just gets worse cause years later instead of school work your writing with bad grammar a story. You want to create this character and explore story ideas. Meanwhile you are taking outside of public school classes-learning about traditional art. Your good at it, you enjoy the tools in your hand, it's fun and your focus is there. At night your watching all those art related programs, interior design, fashion shows, you enjoy the color combinations. You want to work with color. It's what you want to do, instead of going to music you just take more public school art classes-soon the only AP course you ever took is art related. The school tells you about applying to colleges-the one that catches your eye makes you think about finally drawing you characters of your story that you've been trying to write for years, your parents agree to the choice because you have the talent. The first year you are exposed to all mediums. digital, traditional, and the liberal arts. You are about to go into the major that made you choose this school in the first place and your professor says-go for Fine Arts instead. You change your major. Three years later, your characters are made, not the way you wanted years ago-but you can still do that at a later date whenever else makes sense. Your happy. You love drawing people, using different color mediums-even if your struggling your happy when you sit in front of a blank canvas with a pallet of paint next to you.
