What is the most useful piece of career advice you got as a student, and who gave it to you?
During my first day of my MFA in Film Production (Master in Fine Arts)in UT Austin, I arrived early and ran into one of the faculty professors, Don Howard - - I didn't know it then, but he would become one of my mentors throughout my MFA and professional career. I asked him if he had any advice for me and he said: You must know that the challenges you are expecting will be there, along with ones you never imagined. BUT, there is a reason YOU are here and that will always need to be stronger than any challenge you face. To this day, his words are always with me and have helped me during very difficult times. I believe that it's our passion and commitment that take us to amazing opportunities. Once we leave our comfort zone we thrive.
