Jennifer’s Career Stories

When did you get your first Big Break? How did you get it? How did it go?

My experience is that big breaks come from the reputation you have built with your network...relationships are key! Every new job, promotion, change in career came from someone who knows me well and made a recommendation that I check something out. Doing my best and building genuine, caring relationships has lead to lots of opportunities for me.

How did you pick your career? Did you know all along?

My experience is that you don't pick a career and stick with it your whole life. My interests evolved, my network expanded and as a result I tried a number of different jobs and career paths. As it turns out I fell into my dream career. My friend was working for an organization that sounded amazing - the work was interesting and the culture sounded like a great fit for me. I applied and it turned out to be my big break through! I loved it and have been in that career since...17 years.
