I’m a sophomore accounting major at Baruch College working toward CPA eligibility, but I’m still unsure which accounting path fits me best (audit, tax, advisory, or something else). Based on your experience, what signs should I look for now — in classes, internships, or my strengths — that can help me figure out which direction I’m most aligned with?

I'm a first-generation sophomore majoring in accounting at Baruch College, planning to get my CPA in the future. I'm trying to understand how to choose the right accounting path and how to prepare for internships, so I'm looking for advice from professionals who can share what skills, experiences, or mindsets helped them succeed early in their careers as someone with no industry experience.

Are there any advice or tips on how to properly network with professional accountants?

I am a second year accounting student that have attended many career fairs, networking events, and clubs to start building the all-important connections. However, I feel I have not made much progress each time I go to a different event. My questions are generic despite how hard I try to come up with new topics to talk about. In the end, I become unforgettable easily. Do you have any advice or tips on how to leave an impression when trying to network with professional accountants? #accountant #accounting #networking #big4 #big-4 #first-impressions

Besides a high GPA, what extracurricular or activities do the big 4 firms like to see?

As an accounting major, my target dream employer is of course the big 4 firms. I was told recently that grades are the first thing that they look at before even considering everything else, so I am shifting gear to focus on that. However, I am now wondering what sort of extracurricular or activities will help me become a more appealing candidate to these firms. #accounting #employment #college-recruiting #cpa #big-4
