How did you pick your career? Did you know all along?

Initially, I pursued a career in nursing, starting with a nursing assistant program in high school and eventually obtaining a nursing degree in college. However, I felt a sense of something missing in my life and realized that my creative nature needed a more exciting outlet. Surprisingly, I found myself drawn to the entertainment industry after attending a workshop, and the rest is history. While it may have been unexpected, I am grateful for the opportunity to explore a new and fulfilling career path, knowing that I still have my nursing degree to fall back on if needed.

How did you start building your network?

Networking in this field is crucial for building connections and advancing your career. I used social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram it a great way to connect with industry professionals, share my work, and stay updated on industry news and events. Additionally, attending workshops, film festivals, and industry events helped provide valuable opportunities to meet and collaborate with like-minded individuals. It is important to be proactive, genuine, and persistent in your networking efforts to establish meaningful relationships and open doors for potential opportunities in the film industry.

In layperson terms, what do you actually do at work?

As a filmmaker, my primary role is to bring my vision to life through the medium of film This involves conceptualizing, writing scripts, casting actors, selecting locations, directing performances, and overseeing the editing process to ensure that the final accurately reflects my vision Essentially, I'm force behind the entire film process, guiding each step from inception to completion to create a cohesive and compelling story that resonates with audiences.

When did you get your first Big Break? How did you get it? How did it go?

My initial major opportunity arose at the age of 22, when I secured a role in a renowned soap opera during the early 1990s. This inaugural speaking role paved the way for subsequent engagements within the film industry.

What is the one piece of career advice you wish someone gave you when you were younger?

The piece of guidance I yearned for in my youth was to embrace confidence and accept that making mistakes is a natural part of life's profound lessons. Understanding that mistakes are opportunities for growth is crucial, as life itself is a continuous series of valuable teachings that we have the power to assimilate.

What is it like when your job gets tough?

Working in the film industry can be an exhilarating and dynamic experience, often filled with creativity, collaboration, and the opportunity to bring captivating stories to life. However, when the job becomes challenging, it can be demanding and intense. Tight deadlines, long hours, and the need to continually deliver high-quality work can create significant pressure. Navigating through creative differences, tight budgets, or unexpected setbacks can also add to the stress. Despite the challenges, the film industry offers the chance to overcome obstacles, grow as a professional, and contribute to the creation of compelling visual storytelling.
