Mauricio’s Career Stories

What is the biggest challenge you had to overcome to get to where you are now professionally? How did you overcome it?

The biggest challenege that I had to overcome was having to deal with untrustworthy roommates. The inability for them to pay rent on time made it harder for me to focus on school and extra things aside from work. They ended up leaving without telling me and left me to pay rent for 3 people because they weren't on the lease. This made me have to pick up five jobs which included Zara, Hugo Boss, Coach, Paid intern at an Art Gallery known as ThePublicTrust, and paid model. This horrible turn of events actually helped with my time management skills and thrusted my efforts into being apart of the Fashion Industry and ended up making be Executive Director for Men's Fashion Week Dallas(MFWD) and a Lead Production Assistant for Fashion Group International(FGI) . My take is to carefully trust people and always have the will to work hard because you never know where it may take you.

What is the one piece of career advice you wish someone gave you when you were younger?
