Stephen Brunner- Murphy

After entering law enforcement in 2001, I enjoyed a long career ranging from working at the Sheriff's Office in Missoula, MT as a Detention Officer, then became a Patrol Officer for the City of Hamilton MT Police Department. After 4 years I was promoted to Detective. This was a smaller department, but what many people don't understand is that because of this we didn't have a homicide, other divisions that we could assign things to. We had ME! And some excellent patrol officers and at time other detectives to assist. So I handled all sorts of cases from drugs, and property crimes, to sexual assaults, and homicides. You name it, I probably worked it. I had many opportunities to work with neighboring, state, and federal agencies, and enjoyed what I was doing right up to my untimely retirement which was forced because of medical problems that seemingly came out of nowhere. I would love to go back tomorrow, even if all I could do was work traffic. I miss it terribly, but I do enjoy sharing what I can by teaching at local schools during their Law classes, and also on CareerVillage.org and other sites.
