Dusie’s Career Stories
In layperson terms, what do you actually do at work?
I raise money for a nonprofit organization. I also manage the organization's spending.
How did you pick your career? Did you know all along?
I knew that I wanted to work for a nonprofit where I could make a positive contribution to society. However, I started my career thinking that I wanted to work in policy. After having a policy internship at a nonprofit organization, I realized that there were a lot of other ways that I could make a career for myself in nonprofits that would support better policy outcomes. For example, nonprofits need people who can raise money to support their operations and who can help them run the organization efficiently. After the policy internship, I took a fundraising position at the same organization and started my career from there.
