Adam’s Career Stories
What is the one piece of career advice you wish someone gave you when you were younger?
I wish that someone had told me how different the working world was from college and high school. Specifically, students are taught to take an active role in class. When "class participation" is part of the grade, one tends to speak off the cuff, without considering the facts at hand and sometimes not paying much attention to what others in the class are saying. In the "real world," however, sometimes the most important statements are nonverbal communications, how others react to what is happening, and sometimes what is *not* said. I wish I had been given the advice to listen much more and speak much, much less.
