Did anyone ever oppose your career plans when you were young or push you in a direction you did not want to go?
In a way, yes. When I scored very high in the pre-university stage, my first choice was to study pure mathematics, but I was very young, and was pushed into engineering, which did not turn out good for me. I returned to pure mathematics and at the advice of my mathematics professor, followed suit with a double major in Accounting and Mathematics at the undergraduate level.
How did you pick your career? Did you know all along?
I did not pick my career. My career picked me. After fulfilling my basic needs of survival with a career in the govt. as an accountant/financial analyst, I switched careers to become a UNIX Systems Engineer. No, When I returned to civilian life in 1979 after 5 Years in the military in India, I had no idea where I would be Today.
