Ifran’s Career Stories

What is the most useful piece of career advice you got as a student, and who gave it to you?

I would say having patience, one of my professors during high school told me that "patience" is the key to success. Back then, I did not really understood what it meant but now I do. I have seen and come across a lot of motivational speeches or videos that people share on social media. But, at the end of the day if you do not have "patience" in doing something you like, you will never achieve it. I still remember what he told me: "Having patience is the only way to self-motivate yourself in doing something you like".

What is the biggest challenge you had to overcome to get to where you are now professionally? How did you overcome it?

When I was in high school, I used to spend hours on my computer, teaching myself basic web programming languages like HTML and CSS. The biggest challenge I faced was balancing and prioritizing all of these activities along with my school life. Studying in school was something I had to do for my future career while, web programming was something I loved to do. Now that I am in college I can say that other than being a student, I am a professional freelance developer. I have been coding for about 6 years now, although I made a lot of mistakes but I learned from it and never looked back.
