What is the biggest challenge you had to overcome to get to where you are now professionally? How did you overcome it?

Born in a french village in 1930, I wanted to be a teacher but once out of elementary school there was no high school for me to attend in my village. My parents could not afford to leave me boarding in the next city high school and after a short time took me out of the school to get me to earn a living. At the end of the war, there were no jobs, so without money, diplomas, and just a small wooden suitcase, I immigrated to North America. Canada accepted me right away (June 16/ 1954) . The Ottawa government loaned me the money to pay my crossing on an old war ship. I was sea sick for ten days. Once in Canada I worked as a maid , ate well, rebuilt my poor health , was paid $60.00 a month, paid my debt to the government then made a good life in Canada and raised a family. I am now a very legal immigrant in Texas. Yes I have a green card . My descendants are Americans and I want to end my days close to them. I am still working. I always had a soft spot for Veterans, am a paid care giver to a WW2 Normandy 95 year old who saved the world from Hitler's regime. We talk history a lot. We solve the problems of the world every day :) From the first day I could read and write, I was a self made writer, a historian, a poet, an artist, a craftswoman and sometimes a dreamer. Almost always practical and thrifty, I have absolutely no diplomas yet my descendants claim I should have a PhD in common sense. I have always paid taxes, never refused charity and have helped my children and many people. Learning possibilities are freely offered to you young people, please take advantage of these as much as you can and remember to WORK HARD. If you want to accept my counsel, please young people, do not waste time, food, money, water, earth resources, nither abuse your body or your brain. I wish you a wonderful life! geny Heywood
