How Can I Get Into Biostatistics as a CS Major?

I'm a second-year undergraduate computer science student, and I need some advice from anyone with experience finding their pathway in computer science. While I was applying to a research program, I found a passion to apply data science to biomedical research or biostatistics, and I want to delve further. My goal is not only to demonstrate my dedication to the research program. I want to cultivate my passion for data science and commitment to helping underrepresented groups, specifically Black women, through data-driven solutions. What do you suggest as a good starting point, or any tips on how I can delve further into data science in and out of the classroom? Are there any books or websites you suggest? Are there tools and skills you strongly recommend I build up? For someone like me, who never had a strong interest in biology but wants to improve public health, how would I go about that? I appreciate any resources or advice anyone has to offer! Thank you!

What should I do for graduate school ?

Would it be beneficial for me to work for 1-3 years as a clinical data analyst with a bachelor's degree then attend graduate school to earn my masters, or should I attend graduate school directly after college? I am currently majoring in statistics for my undergraduate degree, and will eventually earn my master's in biostatistics to then become a biostatistician.

How do I combine data science and marine bio in a career?

How do I combine data science and marine bio in a career? Right now I'm in college pursuing an undergraduate degree in applied mathematics with a focus in biology and data science but I was wondering what careers combine data science and marine biology because I know they work together but you can't find many examples of that. Also would there be any careers where I could work with the data but also be in the field and collecting it?

is there a way to try out for biostatistic?

I think I want to be a biostatistician, I wonder if there's online class/ program/ book or anything I could read or try out for a while? background information: I graduated from biomedical science (BS) back in May 2022, my school is just a generic state school ( University of Akron located at Akron, Ohio ). During the last few semester of my program I found out I was interested in biostatistic, but I never got to take the biostatistic class due to faculty layoff. However, I did toke statistic for engineer class, and I did ok in the class. thank you for your advice!

fresh graduate, need help to go for next step

I just graduated with my biomedical science degree (BS) ( I was thinking to going for medical school, or PA school, or AA school , or vet med school ). My situation has changed, I want to do WFH jobs. I haven't found much jobs I could do, I been applying for clinical research associate jobs... but they are not the best fit, so far all I got are rejection. I was thinking to get into a master program, that would lead me to a WFH job.... I feel like the only program I would be able to do is biostatistic, or bioinformatic. I toke some statistic class in college, used some R... I'm not great at it but I'm willing to practice to get better. I think I need overall guidance and direction... maybe there are different master programs I should be looking for? if anyone have any ideas, please feel free to share. Thank you ahead , Merry Christmas

What are some ways I can add skills to my resume if I want a career in biostatistics?

I am an undergraduate student and I recently finished my freshman year. I am looking to major in biology with a minor in mathematics (although I am considering double majoring in biology and statistics instead). I would like to add more skills to my resume that will make me more appealing to biostatistics masters programs. #biostatistics #university #biology #internships
