What are some more do's and don't's when signing or learning American Sign Language?

I am a senior and soon to be freshman in Bloomsburg University majoring in ASL interpretation and English translation. What are some do's and don't's when signing a conversation or learning ASL. I've taken two classes of ASL in 9th and 10th grade. I've also did a few courses from a online school called "Oklahoma School of the deaf". Please let me know what I can improve on for majoring in ASL.

How difficult is it to get into a governmental interpretation position?

I am going to major in Applied Linguistics and am also majoring in Spanish at Union University in the Fall and am wanting to carry my career into the governmental aspect. I have also taken three years of (and am fluent in) American Sign Language and would like to incorporate that as well. I pick up languages very quickly. #federal-government #languages #interpretation

How vast is the overlap between a career as a translator and a career as an interpreter?

At the moment I am studying Spanish Translation & Interpretation in undergraduate school. I adore reading and writing, but I also value the spoken and listening aspect of language as well, and therefore feel that I would be suited professionally not just for translation, but also for interpretation. Once I become a professional, would I be able to fluidly go between providing translation and interpretation services? Are there companies or jobs that would require both of me and therefore allow me that versatility, or would I have to have two different occupations in order to do both? If you are a translator and/or interpreter, which of the two do you prefer/find more fulfilling? Thanks so much! #spanish #translation #interpretation #interpreter #translator #translator-studies #spanish-translation

How does one become an interpreter?

I'm really interested in becoming an interpreter for a company or something like that, I'm just not quite sure what I have to major in to be able to become one. I'm fluent in both Spanish and English and recently I've been learning Korean and Italian. Do I have to take business classes if I want to interpret in a company or do I just focus on the languages? #college #language #spanish #interpretation #korean

How does one get into professional interpreting, and what are some of the larger employers?

I'm looking to go to school for International Relations in New York. I am looking into interpreting as a career after college, and was wondering what the best track through college would be, and what some of the major interpreting employers might be for internship opportunities. #college #international #interpretation #relations
