For professionals in radio-frequency engineering, what type of skills did you wish you had learn earlier in your career?

I am still new to College and choosing my career path. I've always been interested in learning about radio frequency, but I don't know where to start. What type of tools should I use in the near future that could help me advance in my learning? What clubs are recommended? I am an Electrical Engineer, an Undergraduate at Cal Poly Slo. Recommend clubs that are in Electrical Engineering, don't need to be concentrated on radio-frequency, as I am still new to College.

How to identify a problem for a passion project?

I am trying to start a passion project, but I'm having trouble picking/finding a problem to solve. For me, it's the hardest part. So, do you have any tips or something else that can help me identify a problem I can use for a passion project? I want my passion project to be mathematics, physics/science, and technology because I am interested in those topics. It also has to be a problem that doesn't require any money or a very small amount. I'm in middle school/8th grade. I want to become a mechanical engineer who studied at Caltech or MIT. I hope this information helps.
