Amruta’s Career Stories
What is the one piece of career advice you wish someone gave you when you were younger?
I remember this from my higher secondary education, when I was juggling between career choices. One of my family members suggested that coding might not be the best fit for me, believing my communication skills and personality would be a better match for the management field. I considered the suggestion and ultimately made a wise decision. I'm happy with my role in management, and it's been 10 years now.
Did anyone ever oppose your career plans when you were young or push you in a direction you did not want to go?
Despite facing opposition from my family twice – once for wanting to become a doctor and again for fashion design – I eventually pursued a different career path. While I haven't become a fashion designer yet, the desire to follow my creative interests may still be there. This experience highlights the importance of having a supportive family, as it allows you to wholeheartedly chase your aspirations.
How did you start building your network?
I started building my network through professional networking sites like LinkedIn, Forums and Groups. I also attend virtual conferences as many as possible.
