What is the biggest challenge you had to overcome to get to where you are now professionally? How did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge I had to overcome to get to where I am in my career is making the choice to further my education and add to my earning potential. I made the choice to go back to college to earn a Bachelor's degree in Business.
In layperson terms, what do you actually do at work?
At work I provide great customer service to my clients to guarantee they will return and also share their positive experience with me.
What is the most useful piece of career advice you got as a student, and who gave it to you?
My Pastor gave me my most useful piece of career advice which is to always research what anyone tells you, if you do not know it to be fact.
When did you get your first Big Break? How did you get it? How did it go?
I got my first big break when I moved to Texas from Louisiana. I decided I needed a change in my career pace, so I saved, researched and made the choice on moving to Austin. It has been great and I plan to continue to grow.
How did you start building your network?
I am most definitely still building my network. I do this through volunteer work, joining social groups and socializing at church.
Did anyone ever oppose your career plans when you were young or push you in a direction you did not want to go?
I have been fortunate enough to have great support throughout my life for my career path. I have had encouragement to continue my education to further my career.
What is it like when your job gets tough?
If I do encounter tough times I take time between appointments to meditate and reflect on what I am grateful for and why I do what I do.
How did you pick your career? Did you know all along?
I have always had a connection with my career from a very young age.
When you were a student, did you do anything outside of school to build skills or get knowledge that has helped your career?
I think everything you do has the possibility of possessing a skill as long as you look for it in the experience. I participated in Beta club, was the President of the Spanish club, co-captain on my soccer team, played basketball, and I was on the ring committee. All of these activities have helped with public speaking, determination, teamwork, and leadership skills.
What is the one piece of career advice you wish someone gave you when you were younger?
I wish that someone would have told me to continue my education in my career field for better advancement opportunities.
