I want to go into tech for my major but I'm unsure as the recent AI technology might replace it by the time I get into college.

I’m uncertain about which engineering field to choose as my future career. I enjoy mathematics, physics, and computer science, but after observing the current job market and the rapid rise of AI, I’m confused about which field will remain relevant and not be completely taken over by AI. I want to pursue a field that aligns with my interests while also offering long-term career stability and high pay.

often see these terms used interchangeably, but I’m not sure where the line is drawn between them. Are all machine learning systems considered AI? And are there AI systems that don’t involve machine learning at all?
With the growth of AI, would job availability and salary potentially change for those just entering positions working as a software developer?
I recognize that AI could potentially take over many jobs, especially in the field of information technology, because it could possibly do the same thing faster, better, and cheaper. I was wondering if there is a high possibility for AI to make it so there are fewer positions and/or lower salaries for those working as software developers, as their work becomes less and less desired.
