When I was in high school: Super nerd. Worked ultra hard. Lots of all nighters. Highly involved on campus - Class President, student government, Editor in Chief and various roles in Newspaper, Full International Baccalaureate diploma recipient, AP classes, lacrosse captain, field hockey captain, Key Club, Rotary Club, created an environmental club to set up recycling on campus. I would skip school and go across the street to the community college and study on my own because I knew I could learn and be more productive on my own than in some of my classes. Notoriously late to first period. Came from a low income family so applied for just about every scholarship and navigated financial aid.
When I was in college: Went to a business undergraduate school on the East Coast despite my living on the West Coast. Ultra involved, community service through Service-Learning was my life - loads of elementary school programs and working with at risk youth; leadership roles in my sorority and business fraternity, part of Entrepreneurship Society, Deans List every semester. Double majored in Business Management and Global Perspectives (like political science) with a minor in Spanish and psychology. Studied abroad 3 times - twice in Ghana and once in Barcelona, Spain. Still highly involved in my Alumni Committee.
